HISTORY OF SOKA AFRIKA SPORT ACADEMY
Soka AfrikaSportsAcademy was established in the year 2015 and registered as a community based organization. As a community based youth initiative formed by volunteer’s members to cater and develop talents among the youth In Athi River, Kitengela, Mlolongo and its environs. Based in Athi River it has its training grounds at Portland village.
After seeing the situation in which the youth were going through especially in matter of: idealness, poverty, drug abuse and health. Dedicated young people contemplated coming up with a football Academy which can help in issues affecting the youth and nurturing talents among them.
The current area of focus is a holistic development centre for capacity building and community development using football sport, but we would also support other disciplines in future depending on availability of necessary resources. Besides this we have community initiatives bordering around; guiding and counselling, environment sensitization, economic and educational empowerment.
We deal with youth mainly from disadvantaged backgrounds, drown from the humble back grounds in Athi River, Kitengela and Mlolongo who live below the poverty line, most of them are hard working, capable individuals who struggle to survive not due to incompetence but solely by the fact they do not posses the same playing field as the other well –up individuals. It is for this reason that SokaAfrika sports academy was started as an initiative to support empower and facilitate the youth in their endeavor to attain sustainable economic stability.
